Entry from: Veytaux, Switzerland Entry Title: "Journey by train" Entry: "I took my parents on their first rail voyage to see Switzerland's most famous castle, Chillon. Brought to fame by Lord Byron's "Prisoner of Chillon", it is a romantic château consuming a small island of rock in Lake Geneva nestled close to the picturesque shoreline. We took Lincoln on the lengthy three hour journey there but he was not allowed inside the castle. Instead we had to leave him in a grassy area outside the castle walls containing a few small doghouses with chains attached and one large cage made of concrete and steel. Though we had woken up to rain, by this time the sky was clearing and the day was being warmed by the early afternoon sun so the dog spot was pleasant enough. However I chose to put him in the cage for the safety of any dog or small child that could be mistaken for one that may cross his path in our absence. I put his travel bed and water bowl on the crate floor and locked him up. He gazed back at us through the wire mesh door with incredibly sad eyes, earning himself the sobriquet "prisoner of Chillon". We explored the castle for about two hours with the aid of the audio guide. Its quite a large castle and the audio guide has many interesting historical tidbits for the explorer.
