Entry from: Pucon, Chile Entry Title: "Adventure Capital of Chile" Entry: "This place is awesome, its a tourist town at the foot of the 3rd highest Volcano in Chile, called Volcan Villarrisa, Its 2840 metres high and towers over the small town. Nearby is Lago Villarrica, a huge lake at the foot of the town. There are tourists galore, the beaches, especially on weekends, are swarming, and the chicks here are much better than in Santiago, but still as pretentious. So we, Murray (who speaks fluent spanish, a huge help), Jag and I (An Aussie and Kiwi i met at the bus station in Temuco) arrived here Sat arvo and checked into a hostel called ecole, a bit of a local hippy joint. On Sat night went to a club called Deep after consuming a fair few $1 each Coronas at the hostel. The club was a fair distance outside town, which seems to be th norm in South America. But in the end it turned out to be pretty ordinary. The place looked good from the outside but inside it was really just a massive metal garage, a bus station we thought, maybe an old barn, with concrete floors and next to nothing in the way of decor or anything behind the bar. Entry from: Veytaux, Switzerland Entry Title: "Journey by train" Entry: "I took my parents on their first rail voyage to see Switzerland's most famous castle, Chillon. Brought to fame by Lord Byron's "Prisoner of Chillon", it is a romantic château consuming a small island of rock in Lake Geneva nestled close to the picturesque shoreline. We took Lincoln on the lengthy three hour journey there but he was not allowed inside the castle. Instead we had to leave him in a grassy area outside the castle walls containing a few small doghouses with chains attached and one large cage made of concrete and steel. Though we had woken up to rain, by this time the sky was clearing and the day was being warmed by the early afternoon sun so the dog spot was pleasant enough. However I chose to put him in the cage for the safety of any dog or small child that could be mistaken for one that may cross his path in our absence. I put his travel bed and water bowl on the crate floor and locked him up. He gazed back at us through the wire mesh door with incredibly sad eyes, earning himself the sobriquet "prisoner of Chillon". 2006-07 Deck we built around the pool. This deck was built with Blood, Sweat, and Beers! It took us a whole summer of weekends to build this, plus part of the following summers' weekends.
